Which Browser Is Better To Use On Ubuntu Linux?
I've been using firefox on Ubuntu for a while now and my biggest problem with it is that it takes a lot of time to start, especially when I use a lot of bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar. There were times when it took almost 20 seconds to start! After starting of course, there have been very less or no problems, but this made me start searching for a better browser for ubuntu. Then I found out that chrome was available for Linux! I wasn't expecting that and anyway downloaded chro

I was wondering why I get "Welcome to nginx" when a page cannot be found? Is that something new or a replacement for the old "404 This page cannot be found" error message? I usually get this in Google Chrome when a website refuses to load (Sometimes in Firefox too). Is it normal for that to appear, or does it indicate a problem? Does anyone know anything further about this? Thank you. An update: I have now learned that "nginx" stands for "Engine X", bu

It's very weird how much the Web development is complicated. Firefox 4 has been released earlier this week and it definitely is a significant improvement over previous releases. The Firefox 4 web browser now provides the ability to have the tabs open in the title bar of the web browser, thus extending the web page display area within the browser, just as Google Chrome does. If you disable the menu bar, add-on bar, and search bar, Firefox gives you more web page viewing area than Chrome does! The only downside is that Firefox maintains a separate addre

Mozilla Delays Firefox 3.1 For More Features
Well as predicted to myself the moment Google chrome came out, Mozilla delayed 3.1 to add the private browser function and of course beef up its navigation bar. Of course, how can I forget Opera's speed dial and and various tab features and something everyone should be copying soon the ability to delete select time frames in the Clear Private data function in Firefox. They are slating Beta 1 next week and beta 2 the day of the US election on November 4th so it will be good to get rid of th

Where Is The Bookmarks File Stored With Ff2?
My bookmarks are critical and lengthy. I'd like to save them to a flash drive, since my laptop is ancient and it's been acting up lately. I went into the FireFox folder, but couldn't find the bookmarks info anywhere. there's a bookmarks.html page, but it doesn't contain the actual bookmarks. Where does FF2 store the bookmarks? Or is there an easier way to copy and paste the bookmarks to another file? 2 poor 4 a sig

Japanese Browser Called Sleipnir
I came across this browser by a fluke chance when I was checking out articles at PC World, and from what I remember from the article this is a very big name browser in Japan and they wanted to expand it to the international market. What really caught my eye is that they want to get 5% of the international market in the browser wars in the next couple of years. To give a background story to this browser, it was developed in 2005 in both English and Japanese and after 3 years it gain some popula

WE all know when it comes to browser security, Internet Explorer is king, king of being the most hacked browser in the world that is. However, this article also shows how far behind Internet Explorer really is when you find of what Microsoft has in store for its latest Beta IE8B2.
Another new feature aims to address a shortcoming in the way the current version of IE lets people delete their browsing history. When a user deletes their browsing history today, they also get rid of cookies

While i'm waiting for the My Opera moderators to approve my Opera skin, i'll place it up for download here. I've set the mime type for the zip file so that Opera will automatically apply the skin upon download so you won't have to go through the hassle of restarting Opera after you've placed it into your Opera's skin directory. There are some areas i need to work on, which you may notice, which i will fix in a later version of the skin, but it shouldn't be much of a p

I thought I should start a topic (and I don't know if there is one like it) in which I talk, and you guys too, about the browsers that are out there for any OS. So, I'm going to start off by saying a few things about internet browsers that I have tried in the past. Internet Explorer (Windows)- This is build into Windows when you first turn on your computer. I think it starts up fast, bu

Most web designers will have copies of each of the leading browsers installed on their system — for testing purposes. However, given the percentage of readers who come to HTMLSource still using Internet Explorer 6, there are obviously a huge amount of people out there who haven’t been told that there are better browsers available.
What do you think, when will be the time, when developers won't have to test their work in IE6 ?? I am waiting for that time to arrive

I have run this test on 4 browsers: 1)IE 7 : 0 vulnerabilities (but the browser goes crazy, opening several windows and applications) 2)IE 6 : 1 medium risk (the browser goes crazy like IE7) 3)Firefox 2.0.0.3: 1 medium risk

some websites are asking you to download their toolbar from a useful one like google toolbar to harmful one like websearch toolbar and some provide service only if their toolbar is installed (example: mega upload). As many of you know Firefox will be attempting to set a world record on "Download Day" - Date to be announced. As most people on this forum have taste and use firefox I think it would be great that on the day we could have a post where whenever someone downloads can post in, then we can take a screenshot of it and send it to mozilla. It could be in the guest forum or a members forum but obviously nothing with post count, I just want to know what the admins/mods fink of this idea? for

If you use FireFox as compared to IE, You'll see just in the way pages are viewed the feel and look of them are smoother the IE's rough view of sites. You may not know what I mean, but think of how smooth firefox is compared to other browsers. safari is smooth, but still rough, and Opera is a little rough like IE too, I think FireFox is the most user friendly and smoothest.

Well Apple has uploaded a new safari browser, and I am somewhat glad because the beta version kept on crashing on me, but anyways safari claims the following,
Web pages 1.9 times faster than Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 and 1.7 times faster than the open-source Firefox 2 browser. However, they set up a triple rendering mode for this browser meaning that Internet Explorer 8 will be able to display website based on different specs on web standards. Meaning that if someone coded really old school circa 1998 IE 8 will be able to display that properly with no quirks mode, they will also render websites during IE 7 run, and of
